We are a television public broadcaster in Malawi. We produce documentaries, panel discussions, infomercials, TV commercials and capture news stories for eight news bulletins everyday.

Transmisssion
TVM transmits a TV signal throughout Malawi via satellite and can be decoded through a 90cm antenna using any general receiver. The signal is transmitted everyday of the year 24hours and attracts viewership of not less than 4.5million.

Services
We sell airtime and our production services to any corporate or individual persons regardless of any discriminators in order to support the high costs of signal transmission. Our production services include outside broadcasting for live functions for both public and corporate events.

Offices
We are headquartered at Kwacha Conference Centre Building and maintain two offices in Plaza Arcade, Capital City and Mzuzu Hotel Building in the North.

Ownership
We are wholly owned by Malawi Government and run as a corporation with limited liability to its Board of Directors appointed by Malawi Government.        

Mandate
Television Malawi as a media institution enjoys the right to freedom of the press as provided for in the Constitution of Malawi.

Section 36 of the Malawi Constitution on freedom of the press stipulates that: The press shall have the right to report and publish freely, within Malawi and abroad and to be accorded the fullest possible facilities for access to public information.

Currently, Television Malawi derives its mandate from the MBC Act (1991) which also incorporates television broadcasting. Under Section 12 (a) of this Act, MBC is mandated to carry on radio and television broadcasting services for the information, education and entertainment of radio listeners and television viewers in Malawi .
